What makes construction and industry workwear different
Workwear for construction sites, civil engineering, workshops and industrial halls differs fundamentally from office wear or event crew wear. Three requirements are sector-typical:
First, visibility. On public traffic routes, construction sites with machine traffic and in logistics warehouses, high-visibility clothing to EN ISO 20471 is mandatory — graded into three classes depending on visibility requirement. Class 1 suffices for warehouse logistics, Class 2 is the standard for civil engineering and daytime road work, Class 3 is required for highway service, night work and high-risk areas.
Second, robustness. Workwear must withstand seams, materials and finishing techniques that are abraded, washed and stressed daily in practice. Polyester-blend fabrics with a 65/35 or 50/50 ratio are standard, as are reinforced shoulder seams and double-stitched hems.
Third, logo durability. Embroidery on workwear holds 200+ industrial washes at 60 °C without visible quality loss — that is the gold standard for construction and industry. Screen print is an alternative for high quantities with simple logos but typically holds only 50–80 washes without visible abrasion. For Hi-Vis vests, transfer print is often the only viable route because the material is welded polyester.

Why ShirtStore — three USPs for the sector
Standards expertise. As a hybrid retailer and finishing service we are familiar with the EN ISO 20471 standard. Our printing processes for Hi-Vis vests preserve the minimum fluorescent area and the minimum reflector widths. On request you receive a batch certificate PDF per delivery with test date, brand identification and class.
Embroidery specialist for robust materials. We have embroidered Hakro, B&C Pro and Result Workwear for years — materials known for their embroidery suitability. On average our embroideries withstand 200+ industrial washes at 60 °C without visible quality loss. We optimise logo position and stitch count before the first piece.
Invoice payment for public buyers and municipal yards. For municipal yards, street-cleaning departments, public buyers and industrial purchasing departments, invoice payment after credit check is standard. We also accept GAEB tender formats and on request deliver in multiple batches to various yard locations.
Brand tips for the sector
The key brand cornerstones for construction and industry at a glance:
- Result Workguard — Hi-Vis specialist, Classes 1, 2 and 3 available. Very good price-performance ratio for quantities from 50 pieces.
- Regatta Professional — Weatherproof, softshell jackets, Hi-Vis bomber jackets. Ideal for outdoor service and roofer crews.
- Korntex KX200 — Premium Hi-Vis with improved cut, often for security services and reception crews with visibility requirements.
- Hakro Performance — Made in Europe, very good embroidery suitability. First choice for polos and workwear sweats with premium embroidery.
- B&C Pro Workwear line — Robust workwear polos and t-shirts, good volume discount from 100 pieces.
Which finishing fits? For Hi-Vis materials we recommend transfer print — it preserves the reflector property and is very durable on polyester. For classic workwear polos and hoodies, embroidery is the gold standard. For high quantities with simple logos, screen print is the economical alternative.
Seasonal notes — when to order
Construction and industry workwear orders follow a clear annual rhythm. In spring (February to April) municipal yards and civil engineering companies order for the building season; in summer (June to August) there is peak demand for painters and roofer crews with express reorders; in autumn (October to November) you gear up for the winter season (softshell, Hi-Vis bombers). Ideally place your seasonal crew-wear order 4-6 weeks before planned deployment so you have buffer for sample stitch, reorders and unexpected special sizes.
Inline FAQ — quick answers
Which Hi-Vis class do I need? Warehouse logistics and indoor operations: Class 1. Civil engineering and daytime road work: Class 2. Highway service and night work: Class 3. When in doubt we advise via our bulk-order inquiry.
Can we order workwear for several sites at once? Yes. We deliver crew-wear sets staggered to multiple yard and workshop addresses. Provide addresses in your inquiry, we coordinate the delivery waves — typically within one delivery day for DHL shipping DE.
Is printing the Hi-Vis vest compliant with the standard? Yes, if the logo does not reduce the minimum reflector area and the minimum fluorescent area. We check every print order for compliance before production and come back with recommendations on logo position if adjustments are needed. Batch certificate PDF is part of the delivery.
Do you also deliver to public buyers with GAEB? Yes. We accept GAEB tender formats and deliver on invoice after credit check to yards, street-cleaning departments, municipal facilities and public buyers. Long payment terms (30 or 60 days net) possible by arrangement.
How long does embroidery last on workwear? With correct wash hygiene (60 °C, no tumble dryer) our embroidery on Hakro Performance and B&C Pro materials typically lasts 200+ washes without visible quality loss. That easily outlasts the workwear's service life.
How fast is the express option? Standard is 5–8 working days DE from print approval. Express finishing in 48–72 hours is available on request — quantities up to 100 pieces can typically be delivered within 3–4 working days when materials are in stock.
