Hoodie care guide — keep print and embroidery lasting
Wash temperature. 30 °C standard for printed or embroidered hoodies. Organic hoodies (Stanley/Stella Cruiser, B&C Inspire) need 30 °C maximum. Mass-market hoodies (FOTL Premium, Gildan 18500) tolerate 40 °C, but 30 °C is better for print preservation.
Wash inside out. Print and embroidery don't directly contact the drum interior. Reduces print-surface wear by approx. 30 % over 50 washes (internal measurement).
Close zips. On zip hoodies always close before washing — prevents zip teeth from scuffing the fabric.
No tumble drying on DTG print. DTG print loses colour depth noticeably faster in the dryer. Air-drying doubles print durability. Embroidery and screen print tolerate the dryer better.
Iron inside out and not directly on the print. When ironing is necessary (e.g. for hoodies with embroidery after long storage), only inside out and not directly on the finished area.
Hoodie cuts explained — Open Hood, pullover, crewneck
Hoodie (classic). Hooded pullover with kangaroo pocket and usually drawcord. Examples: Stanley/Stella Cruiser, FOTL Premium Hooded Sweat, Gildan 18500.
Open Hood. Hoodie without drawcord — specifically for school and kindergarten procurement due to DIN EN 14682. Example: B&C Open Hood (WUI24). Visually almost identical to a classic hoodie, but compliant with safety specifications for classes 1–7.
Crewneck sweater (aka sweatshirt). Pullover without hood, round-neck. Examples: Stanley/Stella Drummer (STSU868), Stroller (STSU865). Popular in the eco-brand and fashion-label context because the clean neckline makes the chest logo design stand out better.
Zip hoodie (aka cardigan). Hoodie with front zip. Here: Mantis Cardigan, B&C ID.205. Popular with workwear crews and outdoor brands.
