What medical and care teams need from us
Medical facilities operate under conditions that standard workwear is not designed for: daily-changed scrubs, industrial washing at 75–95 °C with chlorine-based disinfectants, direct patient skin contact, hygiene standards under RKI and KRINKO, staff fluctuation with short-notice reorders.
- Embroidery boil-proof to 95 °C — still legible after 200 industrial washes
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified fabrics — tested for harmful substances, approved for skin contact
- Fast reorder process — embroidery data stored, single pieces in 5 working days
- Complete range — scrubs, care trousers, slip-on coats, OR shirts, reception polos, lab coats
- Invoice payment for clinics, care homes, public bodies after credit check
- Batch-consistent colours — Pantone reference per order, so reorders 6 months later match exactly
- Multi-address shipping for care home groups and clinic locations
For reception crews and non-direct-care staff (secretariat, reception, administration), we gladly combine scrubs with polos following our Wellness-Crew hub logic — Stedman Classic-T Fitted Women, B&C Inspire organic, Hakro Performance — embroidered with practice or clinic logo. For catering areas in rehabilitation clinics or senior residences (kitchen, catering, breakfast service), we handle the aprons and chef-jacket finishing in parallel with the care rollout.
Which finishing technique suits care clothing?
The choice is clear: embroidery dominates in care, because it withstands chlorine-based industrial washing and tunnel-dryer heat better than any standard print.
- Embroidery — first choice for scrubs, slip-on coats, polos and lab coats. We use Madeira yarn with high chemical and heat resistance. Recommended position: 7 × 5 cm chest logo on the left, with name and function embroidered below if desired.
- DTF printing — useful for complex logos or fine lettering on modern functional fabrics (e.g. CG Workwear stretch lines). Withstands 60 °C clinic washing; for 95 °C embroidery remains more robust.
- Transfer printing — for name badges and function prints (e.g. "Head of Nursing") that are person-specific and can be removed when staff change.
Embroidery is also the only standard consistently accepted by hygiene officers in inpatient care — embroidered logos have no cracks where germs could settle, and they outlast the carrier fabric.
Recommended brands and models for care teams
- Karlowsky scrub lines — classic for care homes and outpatient services, many colours, slip-on cut with V or round neck
- CG Workwear care lines — modern-cut scrubs and trousers with stretch content
- Premier Workwear Hospitality — slip-on coats and lab coats, solid base for medical practices
- B&C Inspire Plus — organic polo for reception and practice teams
- Mantis Superstar — GOTS-certified organic polo for sustainability-focused practices
- Stedman Classic-T Fitted Women — women's-cut T-shirt for reception and admin crews
- B&C Pro polos — durable polo for heavily used practice areas
For scrubs we recommend 65/35 blended fabric (polyester/cotton) — boil-proof, dimensionally stable, less crease formation when ironed. Pure cotton scrubs are possible, but more care-intensive and shrink slightly in industrial washing. For reception polos, Stedman ST2200, B&C Inspire Plus and Mantis Superstar are proven organic options.
Volume discount and pricing for care rollouts
Care orders vary widely in size: a medical practice with 4 scrubs, a care service with 30, a clinic network with 400. We calculate transparently and apply the volume discount across model boundaries.
| Quantity | Discount | Typical use in medical/care |
|---|---|---|
| from 3 pieces | 3% | Small medical practice, pilot order |
| from 20 pieces | 10% | Care service, mid-size practice |
| from 50 pieces | 15% | Large care service, rehab clinic ward |
| from 100 pieces | 25% | Care home, clinic department |
| from 200 pieces | 30% | Care home group, clinic with several wards |
| from 500 pieces | 32% | Clinic group, network-wide rollout |
Scrubs, trousers, polos and slip-on coats are counted together for the volume discount — you do not need to reach the minimum per model. This matters particularly for mixed rollouts (e.g. 60 care scrubs + 12 reception polos + 8 catering chef jackets).
Real-world example orders
- Medical practice group with three locations — 18 Karlowsky scrubs in uniform petrol with chest embroidery (practice logo) and 9 B&C Inspire Plus reception polos in anthracite. Multi-location shipping, 9 working days production.
- Senior care home with 120 beds — 80 scrubs in two colours (day shift light blue, night shift grey) plus 30 reception and admin polos. Embroidery left chest with home logo, right side first-name as separately removable transfer print.
- Rehab clinic with catering — 45 scrubs for care, 20 polos for therapy team, 15 Karlowsky chef jackets plus aprons for kitchen — all in one order with consistent clinic logo embroidered. Invoice payment, delivery to clinic warehouse with sort-by-ward packing.
- Outpatient care service — 24 Karlowsky scrubs in royal plus 24 softshell jackets for outdoor visits (patient home calls). Chest embroidery, plus name badge via transfer.
How reordering works for care facilities
Staff changes are frequent in care facilities — new carer, new intern, scrubs worn out after intensive clinic washing. We have a simple reorder process:
- You signal need by email or phone with quantity and size (XS–4XL for most models)
- We access stored data — model, colour (Pantone reference), logo position, embroidery file
- Shipping in 5 working days — often faster for standard colours and sizes; expedited shipping on request
- Invoice with reference to original order — no new setup, no new mock-up, no new punching
This routine significantly lowers your follow-up costs. Setup costs (logo punching 25–65 € net) apply only once. For very large clinic groups, we set up a customer account with order templates per ward on request.
Hygiene and standard compliance
Care clothing must be hygienically washable, skin-friendly, and must comply with Robert Koch Institute and KRINKO recommendations (commission for hospital hygiene and infection prevention).
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — all fabrics tested for harmful substances and approved for skin contact
- Industrial-washing capable — blended scrubs withstand 75–95 °C with chlorine-based disinfectants
- No PVC printing methods in areas with direct patient contact — we use embroidery or non-toxic DTF inks
- Consistent colours across multiple deliveries (Pantone reference stored)
- No logo on wound-contact or patient-contact positions — embroidery placed on chest or upper arm, not in the OR field
For special hygiene requirements (cleanroom classes, IfSG-relevant areas), we create consultation mock-ups with specifically certified materials on request.
What makes ShirtStore different
- Understanding the care logic — we know scrubs are consumables, not statement pieces. Fast reorders are a must, not a nice-to-have.
- Volume staffing across models — 30 scrubs + 8 polos + 5 aprons combine into one order with the corresponding discount tier
- Pantone colour reference stored — even 6 months later, reorders match exactly
- Invoice payment without drama for clinics, care homes, public bodies after brief credit check
- Multi-address shipping for care home groups with packing list per ward
- Industrial-wash guarantee — with correct care, embroidery and carrier fabric last 200+ washes
